Today, President Rumen Radev will present the Head of State’s Medal of Honor, plaques and certificates to the Bulgarian medalists and finalists who won medals and achieved excellent results at the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. This was announced by the press office of the head of state. Their coaches will also be honored.

The ceremony will take place in the Coat of Arms Hall of “Dondukov” 2 at 11:00 a.m.

Bulgaria finished in 26th place in the ranking of medals at the Olympic Games in the French capital.

The homegrown athletes marked their best Olympic performance since the turn of the century by winning three gold, one silver and three bronze medals in Paris.

To compare the games in Tokyo 2020, Bulgaria ranked 30th in terms of medals, in Rio 2016 in 54th place, in London 2012 in 51st place, in Beijing 2008 in 40th place, etc.

In the medal standings at the Paris Paralympics, Bulgaria finished in 65th place with one gold medal won by Rushdi Rushdi in the men’s shot put in the F55 class. Our country was represented by two more participants in athletics – Hristiyan Stoyanov and Stella Eneva, who took fourth place in the 1500 meter run and the discus throw, respectively.
