“University Sports Games will continue to contribute to the promotion of the country”
Northern Cyprus University Sports Federation (KKÜSF) 21st University Sports Games Closing and Award Ceremony was held at the Presidency under the auspices of President Ersin Tatar.
At the ceremony, university athletes who showed success throughout the season received their awards.
President Ersin Tatar, addressing the athletes and organizers of the university games, said, “We are happy to see young people here who make us proud with their successes.”
Pointing out that the earthquake that took place in Turkey on February 6 was heartbreaking, President Tatar emphasized that they are trying to heal the wounds.
Expressing that they are happy to introduce the TRNC to the international arena by the young people at the university, President Tatar congratulated everyone who participated in the competitions and also congratulated the winners.
Drawing attention to the importance of making the TRNC’s voice heard in different international events, President Tatar noted that it is pleasing that students from 144 different countries and the youth of the country come together and believe that the University Sports Games will further consolidate and be successful in the coming years. Expressing his belief that higher education will come to a much more advanced point with each passing day, President Tatar underlined that our universities are of great importance for the TRNC politically as well as their economic contribution.
President Tatar congratulated KKÜSF Federation President Hüseyin Aşkın Kınacı and his team for their work, which brings together foreign students from different countries and the youth of the country in sports competitions.
In his speech at the ceremony, KKÜSF President Hüseyin Aşkın Kınacı thanked President Ersin Tatar for the Closing and Award Ceremony of the 21st Universities Sports Games held at the Presidency.
Hüseyin Aşkın Kınacı said that the University Sports Games, organized in the categories of men and women, which started in November, were completed as of May.
Stating that the embargoes applied to the TRNC in sports have been broken in a sense, Kınacı emphasized that foreign students and the youth of the country come together to do sports and mingle.
Kınacı pointed out that it makes them proud to organize an organization where gentleness is at the forefront, interest increases every year and the loser wins.
Kınacı stated that in addition to the organizations held in the country, efforts are being made to participate in international organizations as well.
Explaining that a meeting was held in TRNC with the Turkish University Sports Federation executive board in April with the initiatives and hosting of President Ersin Tatar, Kınacı said that the Turkish University Sports Federation will organize the UNİLİG organization consisting of 3 legs in our country in the 2023-2024 period and that universities from our country will also participate in the leagues. he added.
