The President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Joseph Wu; the Chancellor of Costa Rica, Arnoldo André Tinoco, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, João Gomes Cravinho, among other Heads of State and senior officials, are already in the country to witness the investiture ceremony.

Likewise, this Saturday, the first to arrive in Guatemala was His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain, who was received by authorities from the Foreign Ministry in the Guatemalan Air Force (FAG). Alicia Isabel Bárcena Ibarra, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, also arrived in the country. The President of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, was also present.

For this January 14, the arrival of the president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, as well as Laurentino Cortizo, president of Panama, Gustavo Petro, ruler of Colombia and the United States delegation, headed by Samantha Power, Administrator of USAID, are expected to arrive. The arrival of Geraldo Alckmin, Vice President of Brazil, is also expected.

So far, there are more than 60 countries that will be represented by heads of state and senior officials in the Transmission of Presidential Command.

Meanwhile, the vice president-elect, Karin Herrera, attended the visit of the president of the Parliamentary League of Friendship of the Republic of South Korea, Jung-Jae Kim, this Saturday, January 13. The vice president began her greeting by thanking her for the 68 years of joint cooperation and made special mention of the support received during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Herrera also received the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Hasaka Yasushi, as part of the diplomatic activities on January 13, 2024 at a hotel in zone 10 of Guatemala City.

The meeting began with a greeting of solidarity from the vice president-elect to the representatives of that country for the disasters that occurred in Japan at the beginning of the year. At the same time, the government of Japan stated that Guatemala is an important partner with whom it shares democratic values ​​and freedoms and congratulated the determination to defend democracy.
