by time news

Nicolas Sarkozy is finally breaking the silence. The former head of state announced on Tuesday morning that he will vote for Emmanuel Macron in the second round of the presidential election. “I believe he has the necessary experience in the face of a serious international crisis that is more complex than ever,” he wrote in a message posted on Twitter. “He is, in the current state of things, the only one in a position to act”, he adds, believing that “France’s interest must be our only guide”.

“The importance of the decisions to come obliges me to leave my reserve to indicate in all clarity what my vote will be”, justifies the former president, who sees in this period the emergence of a “new era” which “will require profound changes”. As such, Emmanuel Macron “is, in the current state of things, the only one in a position to act”, estimates Nicolas Sarkozy.

The message of the former tenor of the right quickly aroused salty reactions within his camp. “We were waiting before the first round for you to come and help your political family. You speak now. It’s too late, like Grouchy in Waterloo, ”immediately replies the LR deputy from Vaucluse Julien Aubert.
