Mélenchon in a collar, Le Pen surmounted by a headdress set with diamonds, Jadot in a jabot… The Paris Bar cries out on Monday through a surprising poster campaign, representing six of the twelve presidential candidates in costumes of the old regime. The goal ? Challenge them, less than two weeks before the first round of the presidential election, on “the urgency of reforms to be implemented in order to restore the confidence of our fellow citizens in justice”.
“Justice is not a privilege”, repeats the Paris Bar on each of these posters, stuck in more than a thousand sites in Paris since Monday morning. These portraits are accompanied by a manifesto comprising 10 proposals for achieving this justice reform, which has already been sent to the candidates.
In its proposals, the Paris Bar claims in particular the need, according to it, to “establish a moratorium on any new reform in the field of civil procedure”, to “considerably increase the means necessary for the functioning of justice” or even to “reinforce knowledge of legal aid systems for the most disadvantaged”.
In a “breathless justice” which worries professionals in the sector – and which in December had earned the publication of a forum signed by 3,000 magistrates and clerks in the newspaper Le Monde – the urgency is real, repeat this Monday lawyers from the Paris Bar.
