In order to prevent and strictly handle cases of illegal trading and transportation of poultry, poultry products across the border into Vietnam, the veterinary sector (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) focuses on strengthening the quarantine of animals and animal products in accordance with the law; strengthen proactive monitoring, early detection of bird flu outbreak to handle, not to spread the disease on a large scale.
Along with that, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also coordinated with localities and relevant ministries and branches to promptly detect and strictly handle cases illegal transport of poultrypoultry products across the border into Vietnam.
Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also asked the People’s Committees of the provinces and centrally-run cities to direct departments, agencies, branches and local authorities at all levels to synchronously deploy the solutions in accordance with the Law on Veterinary Medicine, documents guiding the implementation of the law, Decision No. 172/QD-TTg dated February 13, 2019 of the Prime Minister on the approval of the “National plan for prevention and control avian influenza in the period 2019-2025.”

The ministry also suggested that provinces and cities strengthen inspection, supervision and control, especially at border gates, trails, openings in border areas, seaports, riverways… to detect them promptly. and strictly handle cases of illegally trading, slaughtering and transporting poultry and poultry products into Vietnam, especially the southern border provinces.
In case of catching shipments of animals and animal products illegally transported, they must be destroyed immediately (before destruction, samples should be taken and sent to the authorities). veterinary agency for disease testing).
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has also assigned the Department of Animal Health and related units to organize working delegations to localities to inspect, guide and urge disease prevention and control; proactively coordinate with international organizations and countries to share information, experience and solutions for disease prevention and control.
Currently, the management of quarantine, transportation and control of animal slaughter are still facing many difficulties, shortcomings, and inadequacies. That is, some local authorities have not paid enough attention to the management of transportation and control of animal slaughter, and have not issued a plan to build an animal slaughtering network in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Veterinary Medicine.
