The Minister of Commerce and Industry and the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Mazen Al-Nahedh, issued a ministerial decision banning cash transactions of amounts exceeding 10 dinars for the activity of private pharmacies, as of Sunday.

The Ministry of Commerce stated in a press statement that Ministerial Resolution No. (37) of 2023 obliges private pharmacies and others subject to the drug control sector to limit the method of payment through (KNET).

And she explained that the first article of the decision indicated that the means of payment in this way is for amounts that exceed ten dinars, provided that the cash payment is for amounts less than that when making any sale.

And she stated that Article 2 of the decision stipulates that the supervisory authority may impose one or more of the measures and penalties stipulated in the relevant laws and decisions.

In the same context, the Ministry of Health stated in a statement earlier today that it had submitted a request to the Ministry of Commerce regarding the approval of obligating all private pharmacies to limit the means of receiving the value of their sales via (Knet) to amounts that exceed 10 dinars according to the laws and decisions issued in this regard, in this regard. A framework for regulating and controlling the course of action of private sector pharmacies.
