Preventing teenage pregnancy is one of the Sustainable Development Goals, linked to maternal and newborn health. In 2019, the WHO estimated the number of pregnancies among girls aged 15 to 19 to be 21 million. This situation is a major risk factor for the health of young people, and of their babies: eclampsia and infections for the mother, prematurity and neonatal conditions for infants.
The Priorité Santé team went to a village in the Yamoussoukro region to meet very young mothers and health workers who support pregnancy and childbirth, as well as staff from the local health system.
What are the risks associated with these early pregnancies? What follows for these complex embryos from a biological point of view? -education? How to encourage the return to school after giving birth? What companies are there?
