This morning, police elements from the Anti-Narcotics Division carried out simultaneous operations in two institutions historically linked to student fights. These procedures were carried out with the support of several K-9 teams, to search classrooms, bags and briefcases of the students at the institutes.

Drug enforcement officers have warned students that this is routine and that they are trying to prevent drug use and trafficking or students becoming involved with gangs.

Commissioner Eduardo Linares, head of the DAN, stated that these actions are part of the School Prevention and Safety plan, framed in the Territorial Control Plan and will be carried out in all national institutes in the country. Linares reported that a canine detected a small portion of marijuana in a student’s bag and that, regardless of the amount found, it will be placed at the disposal of the respective authorities.

In a simultaneous operation, police officers have also searched students at the INTI, always looking for drugs, money and other prohibited objects. These institutions were involved, a week ago, in a brawl that left 10 students arrested and others seriously injured.
