The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CAMe) reported that this December 25 at 12:00 p.m., the preventive phase began due to poor air quality in the Valley of Mexico Area.
According to the agency, average concentrations of 81.7 µg/m³ (micrograms per cubic meter) of PM2.5 particles at the Santiago Acahualtepec monitoring station, this in the Iztapalapa mayor’s office.

Let us remember that a couple of hours before the activation of this preventive phase, the Atmospheric Monitoring System reported very poor air quality in Mexico City and the State of Mexico.
Due to the widespread burning of pyrotechnics During the night of yesterday, December 24, and the early morning of today, December 25, the Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis decided to begin this preventive phase.

After making this information known and with the aim of reducing the population’s exposure to this bad air qualityvarious recommendations were issued to the population:
- Stay informed about the status of air quality in the “AIRE CDMX” application
- Stay at home with the windows closed
- Avoid smoking, do not light candles, wood, charcoal or incense
- Avoid doing vigorous outdoor activities this morning
- Reduce the use of private vehicles
It will be until 3:00 p.m. this Wednesday when a new information bulletin will be issued with the evaluation of the meteorological conditions and air quality prevailing in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico.
