jpnn.comBANDUNG – Persib Bandung coach Bojan Hodak managed to land the figure of center back Mateo Kocijan in the 2024/2025 transfer market.

Mateo came to fill the void left by Alberto Rodriguez who left for Indian club Mohun Bagan Super Giant.

“I am very grateful to be able to come here and this club, Persib. I am very happy because there are many fans. I hope we can win the championship again,” said Mateo, Saturday (13/7/2024).

Mateo revealed that there was a role for the coach who brought him to Persib. Before joining Pangeran Biru, Mateo played for the Albanian club, FK Partizani.

After that, he almost went to the Malaysian League to defend Terengganu FC. Then, Hodak contacted Mateo to ask him to join Persib.

“The coach (Bojan Hodak) saw me, asked if I could play in the number 6 position because he still needed one more player in that position because Dedi (Kusnandar) also plays in this position,” he explained.

By Hodak, Mateo was projected as a defensive midfielder with senior players Dedi Kusnandar or Dado. Seeing the opportunity offered by Hodak, Mateo finally agreed to the invitation and landed at Persib Bandung.

“Of course I am willing to be here because Persib is the biggest club in Indonesia, and I am very happy because of that,” he continued.
