Inflation is falling – finally. In October, prices in Germany only rose by 3.8 percent. That’s a long way from the 10 percent in October 2022. However, the joy of drivers is limited. Because car insurance prices are rising more than they have been in decades.

“We are experiencing price increases on a historic scale,” says Wolfgang Schütz, managing director of the comparison portal Verivox. According to evaluations by the portal, the insurers’ previous announcements for 2024 show: Liability insurance with partially comprehensive coverage will be an average of 12 percent more expensive, with fully comprehensive insurance it is even 14 percent for the medium-priced tariffs and 16 percent for the inexpensive ones.
