Prices of wholesale food products are rising in our country

The increase in the prices of some basic foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables on the stock exchanges in the country continues at the beginning of September, reports the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT) in its weekly bulletin for the period from September 2 to 5.

The market price index (CPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in our country, rose by 0.64 percent to 2,051 points last week. Last week the ITC was at the level of 2,038 points. The base level of the ITC – 1,000 points – is from 2005.

Greenhouse cucumbers became cheaper by 2.9 percent to BGN 2.70 per kilogram, while tomatoes from open areas rose in price by 4.3 percent to BGN 1.62 per kilogram. The price of green pepper is down by 2.5 percent and it is traded at BGN 1.67 per kilogram, and that of red pepper – by 13.1 percent to BGN 1.78 per kilogram.

Potatoes are cheaper by 1.3 percent to BGN 1.08 per kilogram, while carrots maintain their price and are traded at BGN 1.12 per kilogram. Ripe onions rose in price by 5.1 percent to BGN 1.15 per kilogram, and cabbage decreased in price by 0.6 percent to BGN 1.04 per kilogram.

The price of lemons is higher by 3.9 percent to BGN 3.43 per kilogram, while that of bananas is down by 0.1 percent to BGN 2.72 per kilogram. Peaches are cheaper by 11.1 percent to BGN 2 per kilogram, and grapes by 5.6 percent to BGN 2.44 per kilogram. Watermelons rose in price by 4.7 percent to BGN 0.62 per kilogram.

The price of cow’s cheese jumps by 0.5 percent to BGN 11.13 per kilogram, and the Vitosha type cheese is lower by 0.5 percent to BGN 16.75 per kilogram.

Yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) has increased in price by 1.6 percent and it is bought at BGN 1.26 for a bucket of 400 grams, and fresh milk (3 percent fat content) – by 1.4 percent to 2 .29 leva per liter.

The price of chicken meat decreased by 2.2 percent and became BGN 6.24 per kilogram, while that of eggs (size M) increased by 0.7 percent to BGN 0.30 per piece wholesale.

Rice is more expensive by 0.9 percent to BGN 3.34 per kilogram, and lentils by 0.5 percent to BGN 4.41 per kilogram. The price of ripe beans rose by 1.5 percent to BGN 4.38 per kilogram.

Sugar rose in price by 2.2 percent and was traded at BGN 2.10 per kilogram, and oil by 1.6 percent to BGN 2.83 per liter. The price of type 500 flour fell by 3.5 percent to BGN 1.26 per kilogram, and that of cow butter (125 gram package) was higher by 1 percent to BGN 2.77 per unit.
