Prime Minister Han Duck-soo said on Youth Day, the 21st, “The government will not spare any support to help young people solve real-world problems and achieve their dreams.”

Prime Minister Han attended the 2024 Youth Day ceremony held at the KBS New Wing Open Hall in Yeouido, Seoul on the afternoon of the same day. Youth Day is a statutory commemorative day designated under the Youth Basic Act of 2020, and is the third Saturday of September every year.

Prime Minister Han explained the policy direction for each field, saying, “Since its inauguration, the Yoon Seok-yeol government has selected youth as a key national task and is working to improve the lives of young people in various areas, including jobs, housing, welfare, and asset formation.”

He first promised, “We will expand customized employment services for students so that they can increase the quality work experience opportunities they want and design their career paths and prepare for jobs from their school days, and starting next year, we will provide a specialized employment support program for graduates that will identify and support unemployed graduates.”

Regarding housing policy, he said, “We will improve housing opportunities and housing conditions for young people, and provide housing stability scholarships for low-income college students who have a high housing burden due to long distances.” The government contribution to the Youth Leap Account will also be expanded.

Prime Minister Han also said, “We will expand dedicated support organizations for isolated and reclusive youth and youth requiring family care to provide one-stop services, and introduce AI chatbot counseling to the ‘Ontong Youth (integrated youth policy guidance system)’ to provide policies tailored to users.”

Prime Minister Han said, “I know full well that this is not enough,” and emphasized, “I will work with the government’s Youth Policy Coordination Committee, youth advisors, the 2030 Advisory Group, and young people to create the policies that young people want.”

He said, “Improving the lives of young people and allowing them to freely move forward into tomorrow is not only for the younger generation, but also for the future of all of us,” adding, “The government will always be with young people on whatever path they wish to take, and will actively support and encourage them.”
