Namakkal: In Namakkal, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Rs 350 crore Government Medical College through video conference.
In Tamil Nadu, the Central Government has given permission to set up 11 new Government Medical Colleges in 2020. Subsequently, in March 2020, former Chief Minister Palanisamy laid the foundation stone to set up a new Government Medical College at a cost of Rs 350 crore from the Central and State Government funds, behind the Namakkal Collector’s Office. During the Corona curfew, construction work was completed in 13 months, bringing in workers from the North, including the college administration office, classrooms, staff quarters, and auditorium. This year, the National Medical Council has approved the admission of 100 students to the MBBS course at this college. In this context, the new Medical College, from Delhi, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi, via video conference, yesterday.
