New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Bola Ahmed Tinubu who won the presidential election in Nigeria. He also said that under the leadership of Tinubu, India-Nigeria bilateral relations will be strengthened. The Prime Minister shared his congratulations on Twitter.
In Wednesday’s presidential election, Bola Tinubu, the ruling party’s candidate, was elected president of Nigeria. The victory was against the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar and the former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi. Tinubu got 36 percent of the votes.
He got more than 25 percent of the votes in Abuja and two-thirds of the 36 states. With this, he fulfilled both the criteria for winning the presidency of Nigeria.
