Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Visit to the US: Disappointment for Indian-Americans

by time news

NEW YORK – Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US has left people of Indian origin disappointed as there is no large gathering arranged for him to address Indian-Americans during his series of events.

An enthusiastic welcome awaits Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his first official visit to the US from 21 to 24. He will participate in the International Yoga Day at the UN headquarters in New York City. Other attendees include UN General Assembly President Sabah Korosi, India’s Ambassador to the UN Ruchira Kamboj, New York Mayor Eric Adams, and American actress and singer Mary Milburn. On June 22, PM Modi will address a joint committee meeting of the US Parliament and attend a dinner hosted by President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden at the White House.

However, unlike his previous visits, there won’t be any large gatherings organized by Indians living in the United States for Prime Minister Modi to participate in and address. Efforts were made by the Indian American Community Foundation to organize a grand gathering, but the dates for the Prime Minister’s visit were confirmed late, making it impossible to arrange a large event. As a result, only a simple meeting of 1,000 invited individuals will take place at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington on June 23, with Mary Milburn also participating. Singer Mary Milburn, known for her rendition of the national anthem during the 74th Independence Day in 2020, has been invited as a special guest during Modi’s US visit.

Community Trust

This time too, efforts were made by the Indian American Community Foundation to organize a very large gathering.

But the dates for the Prime Minister’s visit to the US were confirmed only by the end of May.

Due to this, it was not possible to organize a grand gathering, said Bharat Parai, president of the Indian American Community Foundation. Due to this, American Indians are disappointed.

Therefore, arrangements are made for a simple meeting of 1,000 people selected by invitation.

The meeting will be held on June 23 at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington. American singer Mary Milburn also participates in this gathering.

During the 74th Independence Day of our country in 2020, singer Milburn became famous worldwide when she sang our national anthem.

Similarly, during the festival of Diwali 2020, he sang the devotional song ‘Om Jai Jagadish Hare’ which became popular.

Accordingly, singer Mary Milburn has been invited as the special guest during Modi’s US visit.
