(24News) Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif ordered to take legal action to confiscate the property and assets of human traffickers.
A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the measures taken against human trafficking in the country.
While appreciating the measures taken against human traffickers, the Prime Minister said that the initiation of recent disciplinary actions against government officials who facilitate human traffickers is welcome.
The Prime Minister directed that strict legal action be taken against all human trafficking gangs in the country so that they become an example. Immediate legal action should be taken to confiscate the properties and assets of human traffickers.
He said that the process of prosecution should be made effective against all the people involved in this disgraceful business and after consultation with the Ministry of Law and Justice, the highest level of lawyers should be appointed for the prosecution. For access, the Foreign Office was directed to contact the concerned countries and take steps regarding their extradition to Pakistan as soon as possible.
He said that with the cooperation of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Interior, an awareness campaign should be conducted among the public to take only legal channels for jobs abroad and such technical training institutes should be promoted in the country which provide certified professionals according to the contemporary requirements. The Prime Minister said that the screening process of people going abroad should be made more effective at the airports.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed on the measures taken against human trafficking in the country, the progress of legal action against the facilitators and the progress of legislation to end human trafficking.
