(24News) Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has extended his heartiest congratulations to the people of the country and Pakistanis living abroad on the happy occasion of Independence Day.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in his message on Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day said that on this day, the entire nation, including me, pays homage to the immense sacrifices of our forefathers and the unsung heroes of the Pakistan Movement, who have saved millions of Muslims in South Asia. He fought tirelessly for the establishment of an independent state, where they could live according to their beliefs and values. As a result of the leadership and unparalleled sacrifices of our forefathers, Pakistan emerged as a free and independent country on the map of the world, thanks to the selfless and continuous struggle of its founders, Pakistan fought through the difficult difficulties that it faced in its early stages. I was facing, during the last several decades, Pakistan has crossed important milestones, through natural disasters and economic and social difficulties, the courage and perseverance of the Pakistani nation has been tested, despite this, the determination of the brave and courageous nation of Pakistan. And the spirit of unity has always prevailed.

I also appreciate the key role played by our overseas Pakistanis in the development and prosperity of Pakistan. Although you are thousands of miles away from your homes in Pakistan, you are a part of this country whose importance can never be lost to me. The entire nation is proud of your hard work and achievements and we consider you as a true ambassador of Pakistan because wherever you are, you are playing your part in creating a positive impression of Pakistan in front of the world, on this occasion of Independence Day. I thank our armed forces, who protect our borders and sovereignty. The endless sacrifices of the Pakistani forces, their true devotion to duty and their willingness to make all kinds of sacrifices for the protection of the motherland deserve utmost respect and appreciation.

As we celebrate our independence, we also remember the brave and courageous Kashmiri brothers and sisters of the illegally occupied Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine who fought for their right to self-determination for seven decades. and are facing the worst Indian state oppression. Pakistan will continue to extend full moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, illegally occupied by India, until they get their fundamental right, the right to self-determination. Pakistan will continue to support Palestinians who are not victims of Zionist oppression until they get their legitimate rights.
Pakistan today stands at a crossroads. Although common values, rich cultural heritage and diverse traditions bind us together, our economy faces multiple challenges in the form of inflation, rising energy prices, unemployment and debt burden.
Since assuming power after February 2024 elections, our continuous focus has been on economic development and economic stability of Pakistan. Taking steps to take full advantage and attract investment in sectors with vast production potential, which will create employment opportunities, speed up industrialization and bring economic prosperity to the country.
Our government’s top priorities include providing international quality education and skills that will not only empower our youth but also help them excel in a competitive global economy. I am personally overseeing the national drive to digitize Pakistan’s entire ecosystem and broaden the tax base to provide maximum relief to those who pay their taxes on time. Our efforts for development and prosperity have started yielding positive results. By the grace of Allah, the country’s economy is moving towards stability. Inflation rate has come down from 38% to 11.1% (July) and will be brought to single digit soon, God willing!
We are working hard to bring down the price of electricity and the nation will see the results soon. And with joint efforts we will all work for a developed and prosperous Pakistan that the founders of Pakistan envisioned for us and our generations.
