Kochi: Middle blocker Karthik has been selected as the captain of the Kochi Blue Spikers in the first edition of the Prime Volleyball League. The matches will start on February 5 at the Gatchibauli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.
Karthik, who captained India at the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship in Japan in September 2021, made his national debut in 2016. Kochi Blue Spykers acquired 27-year-old Karthik for Rs 15 lakh in a star auction.
Karthik said that he is very proud to have chosen to lead the Kochi Blue Spykers in the first edition of the Prime Volleyball League. Thanks to the team owners and coach for giving me the opportunity and leadership to lead a team of experienced and newcomers. Karthik said that all the team members are working hard and are confident that they will be able to perform well in the league.
Karthik’s achievements as the captain of the Indian volleyball team will be of great benefit to the Kochi Blue Spykers, said head coach MH. Kumara commented.
Kochi Blue Spikers will take on Hyderabad Black Hawks in the inaugural match on February 5. The matches will be streamed live on the Sony Network, including Sony Live.
