Julio Huerta Gómez, cousin of the late former Governor of Puebla, Miguel Barbosa, resigned from the State Department of the Interior to seek the governorship of the entity.

“With a deep spirit of gratitude for the trust placed in me, I presented to the Governor of the State my resignation from the position of Secretary of the Interior,” announced Huerta Gómez, at a rally at the Convention Center attended by about 500 people, this 2 of June.

He also reported that he will dedicate himself full time to working as coordinator of Claudia Sheinbaum’s project in the entity.

Huerta Gómez arrived at the Ministry of the Interior on December 16, 2022, after serving as Director General of the Government, a position he held during the administration of his cousin.

The electoral process in Puebla for the eighth Governor of the entity in seven years will begin in September.
