Prince William travelled to Berlin for England’s European Championship final – and he didn’t come alone. The British heir to the throne brought his son George with him.

A day full of major sporting events for the British royal family. Princess Kate attended the men’s Wimbledon final in London on Sunday afternoon and presented the winner’s trophy to Carlos Alcaraz. Not only a highlight because it was only her second public appearance since it was announced that she was diagnosed with cancer, but also because Kate was accompanied by her nine-year-old daughter Charlotte, as you can see here.

But Prince William didn’t miss a final either: the British heir to the throne and avowed football fan travelled to the European Championship final between England and Spain. And he also brought family support with him. His eldest son Prince George was allowed to accompany him to Berlin.

Shortly before kick-off, the royals arrived at the Olympic Stadium and showed off their elegant matching outfits. Just like his father, the ten-year-old wore a dark suit with a striped tie over a white shirt. Even when posing in the stands, George became William’s spitting image.

The two Britons sat next to UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin – who essentially separated them from their direct royal rivals. The Spanish King Felipe VI also supported his national team in the stadium. He had his 17-year-old daughter Sofía with him.

William is the president of the English Football Association (FA) and was already present at the Three Lions’ victorious quarter-final in Düsseldorf on July 6th. There, England beat Switzerland on penalties. Prince William saw his first game at the current European Championships in Germany in his England’s group match against Denmark on June 20th.

It was not King Felipe’s first visit to the European Championships either. He had already cheered on the Spanish team in the preliminary round match against Italy on June 20th in Gelsenkirchen. At Schalke, the Furia Roja won 1-0 against the reigning European champions. Even then, Felipe promised to support his team in a possible final.
