Prince William and his wife Kate visited Southport this Thursday, where three girls died at the end of July in a knife attack that sparked several days of riots in England, Kensington Palace announced.
This is the couple’s first public engagement since the princess announced last month that she completed her chemotherapy treatment, following the cancer she was diagnosed with at the beginning of the year.
The couple visited Southport “to express support for the community and hear testimonies of how local people have come together as the city recovers” after the attack.

Kate and William met with firefighters, police and members of the rescue services who responded after the attack on July 29 during a dance class inspired by American pop star Taylor Swift.
The couple heard testimony “about their experiences responding to the attack and the impact it had on their mental health,” the statement from their office said.
They also interviewed, off-camera, with the families of the three dead girls and with the dance teacher present at the attack.

Three girls aged 6, 7 and 9 died and eight other minors were injured, as well as two adults who tried to protect them. Police arrested a suspect, who was 17 years old, at the scene.
The princess announced on September 9 that she had finished her chemotherapy treatment and was working hard to cure herself of cancer.
The images show her wearing a long brown coat when she arrives at the sociocultural center after meeting the families.
