CHENNAI NANDANAM YMCA College of Physical Education is functioning in the campus. More than 500 students are studying here. Students from various districts are staying in the hostel and undergoing training.

In this case, a 23-year-old female student filed a sexual complaint against the principal of this college, George Abraham (50 years old), at the Saidapet all-women police station last December. In it, he made a sensational allegation that the principal of the college, George Abraham, has been sexually harassing her by sending obscene messages through WhatsApp and cell phone text messages.

Based on this complaint, the All Women Police of Saidapet registered a case against George Abraham under the Prevention of Violence against Women Act. George Abraham was granted anticipatory bail in the case. In this situation, physical education training students started a sit-in protest in the college campus last month to take action against George Abraham.

Inquiry Committee

Subsequently, an inquiry committee consisting of 8 members was formed on behalf of the college administration. During the committee’s investigation, a 17-year-old student studying in the first year of this college filed a sensational complaint that George Abraham sexually assaulted her by describing her beauty while she was exercising.

After that, on the recommendation of the committee, the student lodged a complaint at the All Women Police Station in Saidapet. On that complaint, the All Women Police had registered a case against George Abraham under the ‘POCSO’ Act.

Arrest under ‘POCSO’ Act

In this situation, the police arrested him yesterday under the POCSO Act, who was staying in a residence in the Nandanam College of Physical Education campus. George Abraham will be remanded in judicial custody after investigation, police said.
