Sebastian Krumbiegel, singer of the band Die Prinzen, tweeted that he rejected the Human Projects Lionheart Peace Prize. In Tuesday’s post, he explained: “After much deliberation, I have decided not to accept the #Lionheart #PeacePrize 2023 because I disagree with the opinions of some of those involved in the #UkraineWar and its causes.”

When he took a closer look at the other participants in the award ceremony, he began to have doubts, Krumbiegel told the German Press Agency. “I hesitated for so long because I’m actually convinced that we have to talk to each other when we have different opinions.” Especially in times of war, however, you have to position yourself clearly and leave no doubt as to which side of the barricade you’re on.

Krumbiegel should be honored because he has made outstanding contributions to peace and reconciliation, the organization from Leonberg in Baden-Württemberg (Böblingen district) explained at the beginning of March this year. The award ceremony was planned for November 19 in Leipzig. In addition to Krumbiegel, the journalist Gabriele Krone-Schmalz, who was born in Lam in the Bavarian Forest, is also to be awarded the prize.
