Priscilla Presley Pays Emotional Tribute to Film ‘Priscilla’ and Opens Up About Elvis

Venice, Italy – Priscilla Presley made a heartfelt appearance at the press conference for Sofia Coppola’s competition film “Priscilla” during the Venice Film Festival. Although she wasn’t on the panel, Presley spoke from the audience and couldn’t hold back her tears as she paid tribute to the film and spoke about her late husband, Elvis Presley.

Presley expressed how difficult it was for her to watch a film about her own life and love. However, she commended Sofia Coppola for doing an amazing job and stated that she helped Coppola in every way possible.

Speaking about her relationship with Elvis, whom she met at the age of 14, Presley explained that it was initially challenging for her parents to understand why Elvis was so interested in her. She considered herself more of a listener in their relationship.

Presley revealed, “Elvis would pour his heart out to me. His hopes, his fears, his loss of his mother. And I was the person who really sat there to listen and to comfort him. That was really our connection. Even though I was 14, I was older in life than in years. And that was the attraction.”

Contrary to popular belief, she emphasized that their relationship was not about sex. Presley stated that Elvis was very kind, soft, and loving towards her, but he also respected the fact that she was only 14 years old. Their connection was more about their shared thoughts and outlook on life.

In a rare treat for the Venice Film Festival, Sofia Coppola was able to attend the press conference alongside lead stars Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi, thanks to a SAG interim agreement. Coppola also took the opportunity to discuss the ongoing actors’ strike.

As a director and producer, Coppola expressed her support for independent films and her crew. She voiced her backing for the union’s fight for fair compensation and hoped for a quick resolution to the strike so that everyone can get back to work.

“Priscilla,” based on the 1985 memoir “Elvis and Me” written by Priscilla Presley and Sandra Harmon, will have its world premiere on Monday evening at the Lido. The film is highly anticipated, and fans are eager to witness Presley’s emotional journey on the big screen.
