The prison guards started an indefinite general strike this Wednesday, June 21, 2023. This walkout prevented the resumption of the trial of the events of September 28, 2009.
The strikers demand, among other things, the application of the special status of prison staff of October 31, 2016, the care of 135 volunteers who have followed the common basic training and the immediate release and without immediate delay of the prison guards “unjustly” arrested.
Dispatched by the hierarchy to the civil prison of Conakry, prosecutors from the courts of Conakry have not succeeded in influencing the prison guards who are determined to go as far as the satisfaction of their claims.
The gendarmes who had gone to look for the accused in the September 28 case were forced to turn back.
The resumption of the trial of the events of September 28, 2009 is postponed to July 10 next.
