Prison sentences for 33 refugees after attack on border between Melilla and Morocco

On Tuesday afternoon, the court of first instance in Nador, northern Morocco, sentenced a group of 33 refugees from Sudan and Chad to eleven months in prison and a fine of the equivalent of 50 euros. They were found guilty of “organizing and facilitating the illegal entry and exit of people into Morocco, insulting and using violence against officials in the performance of their duties, and resisting state authority”.
