The nannies arrested during the pro-Alpha Grimpeur demonstration last week were in front of Dame Thémis on May 30 in Kankan. The nine activists of the former ruling party, the Rainbow RPG, prosecuted for “criminal participation in an unauthorized assembly on the public highway”, risk spending time in prison.

While the Living Forces of Guinea demand from the CNRD, among others, a rapid return to constitutional order. The Rainbow RPG, though a member of this entity, instead calls for Alpha Climber’s return to the throne. He still considers him the “legitimate President”. On May 24, RPG nannies took to the streets to denounce the management of the transition and demand the return to power of their mentor, who had been in exile in Turkey for months. During this demonstration, nine activists were arrested. Their trial opened on Tuesday May 30 at the Kankan court of first instance. Bintou Traoré, Mariam Sacko, Fatoumata Diakité, Hadja Ciré Diané, Kadiatou Diallo, Aissatou Diallo, Kankou Camara, Nana Condé and Fadima Sidibé all denied the facts at first, before Mariam Sacko revealed that she had actually participated in the march. She also says that she received “125,000 Guinean francs through Aïssatou Diallo (another defendant, editor’s note). According to her, this money would come from Hadja Ciré Diané, a member of the Regional Coordination of the RPG. The other defendants agreed. But Hadja Ciré Diané refutes these allegations: “Diamon, the administrator of the Dibida market and agents found me at the market. They ransacked everything, brutalized me, before arresting me like a common thief and sending me to the police. I had a sum of 10 million to make my purchases in Bamako. The money mysteriously disappeared during my arrest”.

For the pro-crier of the public wheel at the Kankan court of first instance, there is no shadow of a doubt that these women were guilty of the acts with which they are charged. For repression, Daouda Diomandé requires three months’ imprisonment, two of which are suspended, against Bintou Traoré, Mariame Sacko, Fatoumata Diakité, Kadiatou Diallo, Kankou Camara, Nana Condé and Fadima Sidibé. Against Hadja Ciré Diané and Aïssatou Diallo, the pro-crier requires six months in prison, four of which are suspended and a fine of 500,000 Guinean francs each. He sees them as the leaders of this movement. They will be fixed on their fate on Thursday 1is June.
