Vitaly Grif, chief physician of the neuropsychiatric dispensary in the village of Novaya Bryan, where prisoners sentenced to compulsory treatment were kept, spoke about the reasons for the detainees’ escape. On August 21, the REN TV channel reported this.
As the chief physician of the psychiatric dispensary noted, everyone, except for the initiator of the escape, fled “weakly.”
“According to the police officers, they explain as in the film“ Gentlemen of Fortune ”:“ Everyone ran, and I ran. ” They returned patients who suffer from mental retardation, ”he said.
The escape became known earlier that day. As reported by the investigators, 59 persons were held in one of the blocks of the neuropsychiatric dispensary, located on the second floor of the building, who were subject to compulsory medical measures by a court decision.
On August 21 at about noon, the patients of this block began riots. At the same time, taking advantage of the fact that the orderlies were distracted, seven patients got out of the building, climbed over the concrete fence and escaped from the medical facility. As a result, an orderly was injured, who was attacked and his face was cut with a glass shard.
At the moment, all criminals have been detained. This was announced by the head of Buryatia, Alexei Tsydenov.
