Puducherry: A policy decision has been taken to privatize the Puducherry power industry. Governor Tamilisai has warned that it is not good to protest against this and should not protest.

Lt. Governor Tamilisai today held a meeting with officials of Arts and Culture Department to explore ways to improve government libraries in Puducherry state. Director Kandan participated in the consultation meeting. At that time, the Lt. Governor directed to speed up the development of libraries. Subsequently, the Lt. Governor visited the government branch libraries at Murungappakkam and Willianur.

After this, in a meeting with reporters, Governor Tamilisai was asked about the protest of power workers and the impact of power cut on the people. He said, “It is not right to protest. It is not desirable to protest. It is not right to cause disruption to the public. It is not good to create a power cut. They can present their problem as a demand. Whatever decision the government takes, it will be a decision for the people. They are going to benefit. The cost to the people is going to be reduced. The government takes decisions keeping this in mind. So it is not good to protest. We should not protest,” he said.

Asked if it was true that the power sector would be privatized, he replied, “The policy decision for privatization has been taken.”
