The mayor of the City of Montreal, Valérie Plante, had to be evacuated during a meeting of the borough council on Tuesday afternoon when pro-Palestinian demonstrators interrupted the session.
“Israel bombs, Valérie supplies the weapons!” sang some activists who were present around 6:30 pm during the Ville-Marie district council meeting.

According to the Police Service of the City of Montreal (SPVM), about fifteen demonstrators came to disrupt the municipal session in downtown Montreal.
“Everyone had to leave the room and the mayor was evacuated to get her to safety,” the SPVM said by email.
The police escorted and expelled those campaigning for the Palestinian people, but the SPVM made no arrests.
However, the session was able to resume after the intervention of agents “ready to intervene quickly” who “were always present during these councils”, according to information from the SPVM.
