MADRID, 16 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The International Center for Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) has announced the presentation of complaints against the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, and other senior officials of the Government and the opposition for complicity with the alleged crimes. of war committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

A first complaint has been filed with the War Crimes section of the London Metropolitan Police for “providing military, economic and political support to Israel” and “helping Israel to perpetrate war crimes.” The complaint also opens the door to a trial at the International Criminal Court (ICC), highlights the ICJP.

In particular, the complaint highlights that the order to move given by Israel to the 1.2 million inhabitants of the northern Gaza Strip “could imply both a war crime and a crime against humanity.” Furthermore, the siege without electricity, food and water “represents collective punishment also contemplated as a war crime according to the Geneva Convention.”

A second complaint also includes the leader of the Labor Party, Keir Starmer, and other senior officials of the opposition party: Emily Thornberry and David Lammy.

Starmer and Thornberry defended Israel’s decision to prevent food, water and electricity from entering Gaza and “justified this collective punishment by ‘Israel’s right to defend itself,'” according to the ICJP.

“These two politicians are Human Rights lawyers and should be fully aware that this argument does not justify collective punishment, illegal under International Law,” the ICJP has warned.

The group warns that “now that there is clear evidence of war crimes and crimes against humanity (…) and that politicians have been formally informed of this, maintaining this support would imply that those politicians (…) could be complicit in the commission of such crimes.” And therefore they would incur “criminal responsibility for violation of International Law.”
