Title: Pro-Palestinian Protesters Halt Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City

On November 23, 2023, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City was brought to a temporary standstill when a group of approximately 30 pro-Palestinian protesters disrupted the event by gluing themselves to the pavement along the parade route on Sixth Avenue.

The protesters, who were demonstrating along Sixth Avenue, breached the barricades and ran into the street at 49th Street, causing the parade to come to a halt.

Officials have confirmed that the protesters have been taken into custody.

In the midst of the disruption, President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden made a call into the parade, urging Americans to come together and give thanks for the country. President Biden also expressed gratitude to firefighters, police officers, first responders, and troops, including those stationed abroad.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a holiday tradition since 1927, has always been a celebrated event. Today, it was not only a display of festive floats and giant balloons but also a platform for activism.
