Producers of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ donate 1 crore to Kalki Trust

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is a film that has surprised the silver screen in recent times. Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is based on the historical novel of literary writer Kalki Krishnamurthy. The film received huge response from the theatres. The new news is that the makers of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ have donated one crore rupees to the Kalki Krishnamurthy Memorial Trust.

In the presence of Kalki Rajendran, son of Kalki Krishnamurthy, Mani Ratnam and Subaskaran handed over the check to Trust Managing Trustee Sita Ravi. The film has earned around 260 crores from Tamil Nadu alone. It is also reported that the global collection of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is approaching 500 crores. ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ has become a pride not only for Tamil, but for Indian cinema as well.

Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Rahman, Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Lal, Vikram Prabhu, Parthipan, Babu Antony, Ashwin Kakumanu, Riaz Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Shobhita Dulipala, Jayachitra and other actors are present in the film. It is reported that the streaming rights of the film have been sold for 125 crores. The streaming of the film is owned by Amazon Prime Video. Apart from Tamil, the film has also been released in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi languages.

The art direction of the film has been done by Thota Dharani and Wasim Khan. The film is edited by Sreekar Prasad. The cinematography of the film is done by Ravi Varman. Action choreography is by Shyam Kaushal. Brinda dance system. Anand Krishnamurthy is the sound designer. Eka Lakhani is also executed in costume design.
