Producers will test new soybean biotechnology

by time news

During the soybean planting work that starts in September, a group of producers will test the Intacta2 Xtend biotechnology on their plots. The platform has already been used in Brazil, where the productive sector highlighted its benefits.

This third generation of soybean biotechnology is based on three proteins that act simultaneously to guarantee greater protection against the main caterpillars that threaten crops. In fact, it is considered the only solution on the market with a broad spectrum of protection against these pests.

Likewise, it offers more tolerance to dicamba and glyphosate herbicides, which contributes to better weed control in soy fields.

In this first year of use in Paraguay, farmers were selected to incorporate this Bayer Crop Science technology into their plots.

“We are working with a group of 75 producers, the Intacta2 Xtend ambassadors, who are the protagonists of this launch and who will be able to tell us about their own experience of the 22-23 campaign with this new technology and thus add many more Intacta2 Xtend producers to from the following campaigns”, announced during the launch José Martínez Moreno, who works in the multinational as Soybean Marketing Leader for Paraguay and Uruguay.

This platform also brings with it novelties in terms of digitization and works that point to greater sustainability.

The fee for the use of technology amounts to USD 39.40 for each bag of 40 kilos, while the Xtend Shelter is USD 26.33 until November 30.

Producers will be able to monitor the behavior of this alternative to add to their crops in the following campaign.

Rain deficit for September

According to the monitoring of the Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology (Inbio), rains below the normal average are expected for September, coinciding with the soybean planting period.

In the Eastern Region, the northern areas of the country will be affected above all, including the departments of Amambay and Concepción; while, to a lesser extent, there will also be less humidity in Canindeyú, Itapúa and part of Alto Paraná, which concentrate most of the soybean crop area.

The permit to plant will open next week, but the farmers will have to make the decision according to the level of moisture in the soil, in order to ensure good germination.
