According to him, it is the realm of the election organizers to verify whether they meet the requirements or not.
“If that’s a normal thing, because later the KPU can do verification. Like political parties, verification will definitely be carried out too, right,” said Jimly when contacted by reporters on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
Therefore, Jimly emphasized that the matter of the alleged discovery of the use of Jakarta residents’ ID cards to support independent candidate pairs is the domain of the DKI Jakarta KPU, not a criminal domain.
“This is just an administrative matter, it will be verified by the KPU and Bawaslu later,” he explained.
In fact, the former Chairman of the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP) sees the presence of the independent candidate Dharma-Kun as very good for participating in the DKI Jakarta Pilkada in November 2024.
Because, he said, the public was given the opportunity to choose candidates who were not nominated by political parties.
“I see this independent candidate as very good, this is to provide an opportunity for people from outside non-political parties,” explained this member of the DPD RI for the 2019-2024 period.
Jimly invited all parties not to worry about the presence of Dharma-Kun as a candidate pair for the Jakarta gubernatorial election from the independent route.
