In a very slow duel during the second stage, Racing did not take advantage of the draws between Huracán and Unión de Santa Fe and wasted the chance to become the leader by losing 1 to 0 against Sarmiento de Junín on Wednesday in the seventh round of the Professional League.

With the only goal by Ezequiel Naya in the first half at 20 minutes, Sarmiento recovered from the defeat against Rosario Central and achieved its third victory in the championship and the second at home that allowed it to reach 10 points in the tournament.

Racing, on the other hand, was unable to overtake Huracán and Unión -both with 14 points- and establish itself as the sole leader of the championship. It also suffered its second defeat as a visitor in the tournament, the first having been against Lanús by 2 to 0.

Twenty minutes into the match, Racing’s defence headed the ball several times in their own area and were unable to clear it, leaving the ball untouched by the static La Academia players and Naya, who was also lucky with a deflection, made it 1-0.

The next match, the eighth, Racing will host Unión in the fight for first place in the table in Avellaneda, on Sunday, July 28 at 5:15 p.m., while Sarmiento will visit River at the Monumental on the same day but at 6:30 p.m.
