Professor Henri Joyeux is once again banned from practicing medicine for two years following false statements against certain vaccines, several years after the cancellation of a first radiation, according to a document sent Monday by the Order of Physicians.

“Professor Joyeux is punished with a ban on practicing medicine for a period of two years”from 2024, according to a decision of the national disciplinary chamber of the Order of Physicians, first revealed by the medical news site Egora. This radiation is the last step in a series that has pitted this professional organization against Henri Joyeux for years – known for multiplying medically unfounded positions.

At the center of the affair, two petitions published on the internet in September 2014 and May 2015 by the former member of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE). The first protested against a recommendation from the High Council for Public Health, never followed by the government, recommending lowering the age of vaccination against the papillomavirus for girls from 11 to 9 years old.

The second criticized the replacement of the trivalent DTPolio vaccine (that is to say protecting against three diseases, diphtheria, tetanus and polio) by a hexavalent vaccine (protecting against six diseases), because of risks supposedly linked to the presence of aluminum in the latter.

Clandestine clinical trials

Following these declarations, the National Council had, in 2016, already disbarred Mr. Joyeux for two years, but this decision was annulled by the disciplinary chamber, which operates independently of the council. The case was escalated to the Council of State which overturned the decision of the disciplinary chamber in 2019, opening the way to a new procedure. It was at the end of this that the chamber, this time, effectively dismissed Henri Joyeux.

He expressed himself “in an alarmist manner, without relying on data acquired from science”according to the chamber, which also accuses him “to alarm parents of young children by using controversial expressions”.

The former oncologist, who also disseminated erroneous information around Covid, is also the subject of proceedings in other cases, in particular clandestine clinical trials around Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. The drug agency (ANSM) banned these trials, but the administrative justice overturned this decision, leading the ANSM to appeal to the Council of State. His decision is still awaited.
