Professor Henri Joyeux banned from practicing medicine for two years

DISPATCH — “It doesn’t change anything in my life!” After almost ten years of legal battles, the disciplinary chamber of the Order of Physicians decided on September 1st to ban the practice of medicine to Professor Henri Joyeux for the next two years. In question ? His positions deemed “antivax” and “alarmist”.

The story begins in September 2014, when Professor Henri Joyeux published a petition against lowering the age of HPV vaccination for girls from 11 to 9 years old. In May 2015, he published another, denouncing the replacement of the trivalent DTPolio vaccine (that is to say protecting against three diseases, diphtheria, tetanus and polio) by a hexavalent vaccine (protecting against six diseases), due to risks related to the presence of aluminum in the latter.

In 2016, the National Council of the Order of Physicians (CNOM) struck him off for two years, but the disciplinary chamber opposed this decision. Then, it was the Council of State which opposed the decision of the chamber in 2019. Rebelote, and finally, the disciplinary chamber decided this time to prohibit him from practicing medicine for two years at from January 1, 2024.

According to the institution, the professor would have expressed himself “in an alarmist manner, without relying on data acquired from science”. The Order of Physicians supports: “If he only had hesitations, he had to express them with the greatest caution, avoiding alarming the parents of young children by the use of controversial formulas.”

From the height of his 78 years, Professor Henri Joyeux does not seem affected in the least by this decision: “I am happy not to have been deregistered, because I would no longer have had the right to make prescriptions. But as I no longer exercise, it doesn’t change anything in my life, I remain happy!”

And to repeat, to whoever wants to hear it: “I am not against vaccines, I am against abuse and for freedom of expression. It is a witch hunt, but if it pleases them. ..” His Facebook page still displays: “YES to VACCINES, NO to 11 VACCINATIONS from the 6th week of life.”
