Professor Maria Tuca Fachin premieres film at Rio Festival

Professor of directing at the International Cinema Academy (AIC), Maria Tuca Fachinpremiered his most recent work, the film “Tudo que Cresce e Voa”, during the Première Brasil gala session at the Rio Festivalthis last Saturday (7).

The plot revolves around Sônia (Vanise Carneiro), who, on the eve of turning 50, witnesses the transformation of the city by the invasion of wildlife, at the same time that he discovers that it is disappearing.

The short film is a joint production by Teatro Líquido and Motim Filmes, with support from ProAC-SP.

The Rio Festival

The 25th edition of the Rio Festival takes place between the 5th and 15th of October. As part of its programming, the Premiere Brazil will present 91 Brazilian films in competitive and non-competitive exhibitions.

At the opening ceremony, at the iconic Cine Odeon, director Ilda Santiago said: “It is especially exciting to be here after 25 years. We know which route we took. We were very lucky to have started and grown with Brazilian cinema. That we built Première Brasil, a big red carpet for national productions.” She recalled the film programming work of Fabiano Canosa and Alberto Shatovsky, and spoke of her pride in seeing how many professionals who stand out in the market today started at the Rio Festival.
