Profits of China’s Large Industrial Enterprises Rise

The combined profits of China’s major industrial companies in January-June 2024 increased by 3.5% compared to the same period last year, to 3.511 trillion yuan ($484 billion).

As reported by Day.Az with reference to Interfax, this is stated in the report of the State Statistical Office (SSO).

The State Supervision Authority classifies industrial enterprises with annual revenues exceeding 20 million yuan ($2.75 million) as large ones.

The profits of state-owned companies increased by 0.3%, while those of private companies increased by 6.8%.

An increase in profits in the first half of the year was noted in the production of non-ferrous metals (+78.2%), in the segment of production of computers, communications and other electronic equipment (+24%), in the textile industry (+19.3%), as well as in the field of agriculture and food production (+19.2%).

At the same time, the profits of coal industry enterprises fell by 24.8%, and those of machine-building equipment manufacturers by 8%.

In June, the total profit of large industrial enterprises in China increased by 3.6% compared to the same month a year earlier. In May, this figure increased by 0.7%.
