Madurai: The Madurai branch of the High Court has imposed an interim stay on the appointment of temporary teachers in Tamil Nadu.

A petition filed by Sheela Premkumari, President of Teachers’ Eligibility Test Passed Teachers Association: The government ordered the appointment of temporary teachers in the vacant posts of intermediate teachers and graduate teachers in Tamil Nadu on June 23. Many people who passed the teacher qualification test did not get employment.

The government has allowed appointment of temporary teachers through District Principal Education Officers. It does not specify the minimum qualification that passing the qualifying examination is mandatory. No public announcement was made.
