Doha ∙ AFC Asian Cup organizers aim to make match venues tobacco-free. Smoking is not allowed inside the stadiums. The Local Organizing Committee and the Ministry of Public Health are taking steps to make tournament venues tobacco-free with an aim to promote a healthy environment in sports tournaments. The move is part of the no-tobacco policy. Smoking areas will be allowed outside the stadiums.

Jassim Al Jaida, Sustainability Communication and Stakeholder Manager at the Organizing Committee, said that the tournament will be enjoyed by all fans. Inspectors from the Ministry of Public Health will monitor fans for smoking inside stadiums during matches. Informative signage about the dangers of smoking will also be placed throughout the venues.

The Asian Cup is being held in 9 stadiums across the country. There are 51 matches. The final is on February 10. This is the third time Qatar is hosting the Asian Cup. Qatar attaches great importance to sustainable and environmentally friendly measures. Environment friendly measures have been taken including in public transport. The FIFA World Cup hosted by Qatar in 2022 also made stadiums smoke-free.
