Various departments of the Government of Tamil Nadu, Public Sector Undertakings and Electricity Board do not pay the electricity bill on time.

Tamil Nadu has favorable weather conditions for more than 300 days of solar power per year. Therefore, just like big companies set up the power plant on land, with high capacity, rooftop solar power plant is set up on top of buildings including houses.

Similarly, there is an energy development agency called ‘DEDA’ to set up roof top solar power plant of 20 megawatt capacity in various capacity in government departments, public sector company buildings, 50 kilowatt, 100 kilowatt, depending on the location in the building.

The cost for this should be borne by the concerned government departments. When the solar power is used by the government company, the surplus can be sold to the power board. This will reduce their electricity bill cost. From a 1 kW solar power plant, 4 – 5 units of electricity are available.
