The annual value of most houses in Singapore will be revised from January next year.

Accordingly, home owners will have to pay additional property tax. Mainly the property tax is higher for more expensive houses.

The move follows a 20 percent rise in house rent since the beginning of this year.

Residents of one-room and two-room houses will not have to pay property tax for the next consecutive year.

The annual value of those houses is consistently less than eight thousand shillings.

Most residents of other Housing Development Corporation houses may be required to pay an additional 30 shillings to 70 shillings.

Social support schemes are assessed on the annual value of the house in Singapore.

Goods and Services Tax Credit Scheme,
These include the Employment Supplemental Income Scheme.

But not all of them will be affected by this property tax hike.

It was announced in this year’s budget that the property tax on houses will be increased in 2 phases.
