The special prosecutor who investigated the discovery of documents with confidential information in Joe Biden’s private residence, dating back to the time when the President of the United States was vice president, closed his investigation without recommending any criminal charges. This good news for Biden could, however, turn into a serious political blow for his aspirations to be re-elected in November. Despite not having found sufficient evidence that Biden acted intentionally, and having highlighted the White House’s collaboration throughout the process, the prosecutor made a very critical assessment of the US President’s mental acuity, describing him as “a well-intentioned elderly man, but with a poor memory”, which reveals “a diminution of his faculties with advancing age”.
