The United States ambassador to Ecuador, Arthur Brown, who presented his credentials in June, has a schedule of meetings with senior officials in the country. On Monday, July 15, the diplomat visited Attorney General Diana Salazar, with whom he discussed the issues of collaboration that have been developed between the two countries.
Brown was accompanied by the director of the Office of Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and a delegation from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). According to information published by the Public Prosecutor’s Office on its social networks, the meeting was to “discuss issues of cooperation and strengthening strategies for the Prosecutor’s Office.” “The United States Ambassador to Ecuador reaffirmed his commitment to continue with assistance and collaboration with this Institution,” the publication adds.
Arthur Brown will take over as U.S. ambassador to Ecuador in June 2024, replacing Michael Fitzpatrick. Upon his arrival in the country, the diplomat stressed that “Ecuador is a strategic partner for the United States in South America, as democratic governance is under pressure throughout the region.”
