Prosecutor General instructed prosecutors to check the safety of children on the roads

Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov instructed prosecutors of all constituent entities of Russia before the start of the new academic year to check the implementation of the legislation on road safety near the territories of schools and other children’s organizations.

As the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office told the “RG” correspondent, numerous facts of injuring children as a result of road accidents often indicate improper traffic management in areas adjacent to educational institutions, recreation and leisure facilities for minors. In this regard, prosecutors will check the adequacy of equipping such road sections with technical means of traffic management, including road signs, traffic lights and speed bumps.

As noted in the supervisory department, prosecutors, if justified, will take comprehensive response measures aimed at ensuring compliance with the law, the rights and legitimate interests of children. And they will also force the authorized bodies to fulfill the duties assigned to them.

An assessment will also be made of the completeness of the implementation by local authorities and the State Traffic Inspectorate of their powers in the field of traffic management and road maintenance.
