The Morelos State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has refused to hand over to the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) the investigative folder on the murder of social activist Samir Flores Soberanes, who was assassinated in 2019 for his work as a “community informer,” federal sources indicated.
Given the refusal of the FGE, the agent of the Federal Public Ministry asked a federal court to determine jurisdiction in this case in a hearing and accredit the Special Prosecutor for Attention to Crimes Committed against Freedom of Expression (Feadle) as responsible for the investigation.

The Morelos prosecutor, Uriel Carmona Gándara, was arrested last Friday and linked to criminal proceedings for the crime of delaying justice in the case of the femicide committed last year in Mexico City against Ariadna Fernanda López Díaz, whose body appeared in Morelos.
The Feadle attracted the investigation of the murder of Samir Flores this year, but the Morelense prosecutor’s office has refused to deliver the documents, evidence and testimonies compiled for the case.
Flores was murdered on February 19, 2019 when he was leaving his home in the municipality of Amilcingo, Morelos.
SOCIAL FIGHTER AND COMMUNICATOR
Samir directed the Front of Peoples in Defense of the Territory, Water and Air of Morelos, Puebla and Tlaxcala (FPDTA-MPT). Among the last activities in which he participated were the social mobilizations against the construction of the Huexca thermoelectric plant, in the municipality of Cuautla, Morelos.
The information from federal authorities indicated that the matter requires the intervention of the FGR, since in addition to his activities in the social organization, Samir carried out information tasks in communities.

In his case, with the complete file, the federal authority could analyze the publications or information disseminated by Samir Flores and that could have motivated the attack in which he lost his life, the sources indicated.
Juan Carlos Flores Solís, a lawyer for the Peoples Front, assured last May that the Morelos prosecutor’s office, under the direction of Carmona, carried out an act of “simulation and assembly”, by accusing a man identified as Javier N of alleged material author of the Samir’s murder
